The wait is nearly over. Paris Saint-Germain have agreed a deal to sign Ferran Torres from Barcelona, and the Torres transfer is now down to formalities, with The Athletic reporting a fee in the region of €50m for the Spain forward.
How the Torres transfer came together
It has been a whirlwind pursuit. Barcelona rejected PSG’s opening offer — put at around €40m by ESPN’s sources — at the start of the week, but momentum built quickly once personal terms were in place. Torres missed Barcelona training on Wednesday to finalise the move, and Goal now reports the Catalans have accepted the €50m offer. Football Today adds that the forward is set to sign a five-year contract, though neither club has made anything official yet and no fee has been confirmed.
The final piece of Paris’s summer attack
The move fills the gap left by Gonçalo Ramos’s sale to AC Milan and hands Luis Enrique the versatile forward he has chased all window — Torres is comfortable through the middle or off either flank. He would follow Maghnes Akliouche and Lucas Digne through the door in Paris, and Goal reports the coach is already laying out a plan to prepare his new forward for a first appearance.
After a starring summer with Spain, Torres would arrive at the Parc with his stock sky-high. Fresh from retaining the Super Cup in Salzburg, Les Parisiens look to have landed the marquee signing their week deserved. All that is missing now is the announcement.
