Barcelona Reject PSG’s Opening Bid for Ferran Torres

Barcelona have rejected Paris Saint-Germain’s opening bid for Ferran Torres, but Les Parisiens remain determined to sign the Spain forward before the summer window closes. Multiple outlets reported on Monday that PSG’s first offer — put at around €50m — was knocked back by the Catalans, who are holding out for more.

Why PSG want Ferran Torres

The pursuit makes sense for Luis Enrique’s side. With Gonçalo Ramos having left for AC Milan, Paris are short of a recognised centre-forward, and Torres — comfortable through the middle or off either flank — fits the profile the champions have chased all summer. Reports of the fee vary: Get French Football News and Goal put PSG’s opening bid at roughly €50m, while Goal reported Barcelona had knocked it back, with Barca Universal suggesting the initial offer was closer to €40m. Barcelona are said to value Torres well above €50m, with one report citing a €65m price tag, and want considerably more before sanctioning a sale.

Crucially for Paris, the player is reported to favour the move. PSG had already agreed personal terms with Torres earlier this week, so the sticking point is club-to-club: the gap between what PSG have offered and what Barcelona will accept.

PSG, who have already added Lucas Digne and Maghnes Akliouche this summer, are expected to return with an improved bid. With personal terms in place and the forward keen, the decision now rests with Barcelona — and the Parc des Princes faithful will hope Paris get their man before the deadline.
