UEFA Youth League: PSG knocked out by Real Madrid in semi-final

Paris Saint-Germain U19 team was eliminated from the UEFA Youth League semi-final on penalties by Real Madrid on Friday. T

The Titis lost 5-4 on penalties after settling for a 1-1 draw at the end of 90 minutes in Lausanne.

The Titis were able to control Real Madrid and they were rewarded with an early goal that separated the two teams for the majority of the encounter.

Elijah Ly broke the deadlock with a first-time finish frrom just outside the box after connecting with David Boly’s assist.

The Parisians had several moments to extend their lead but Madrid goalkeeper Javier Navarro was pivotal in keeping his team in the game with brilliant saves.

On the other end of the pitch, the Titis defence, co-ordinated by Vainqueur Diyinu Nzinga, was on top of their game and they were able to hold off Real Madrid’s attacking threats.

However, they were punished for their lackluster defending in the closing stages of the game.

They failed to clear the ball in the penalty area, thus giving Liberto Navascues the chance to level the score for the Spanish opponent in the 83rd minute.

At the end of regular time, the game went directly into a penalty shoot-out with Aymen Assab, Yanis Khafi and Emmanuel Mbemba missing their attempts as Madrid goalkeeper Navarro turned out to be the hero with crucial match-winning save.

The defeat brought an end to PSG’s courageous outing in the youth tournament, but Real Madrid will now face Club Brugge in the UEFA Youth League final set for Monday, April 20 in Lausanne.
