PSG star Warren Zaïre-Emery sends warning to Bayern Munich before return leg

Present at a news conference on the eve of the UEFA Champions League semifinal return leg between PSG and Bayern Munich, Warren Zaïre-Emery, who will have to occupy the right-back position due to Achraf Hakimi’s injury, promises to do what is necessary to stop Luis Diaz.

Another monumental match is on the horizon. While the first leg played at the Parc des Princes between PSG and Bayern Munich ended in a historic 5-4 that will remain in the competition’s annals, the return leg should also be very intense.

In front of their home crowd and with a goal to make up, the Bavarians will have to quickly set the match on fire to hope to qualify for their first Champions League final since the one they won in 2020.

On the PSG side, the absence of Hakimi, 27, injured in the thigh, forces head coach Luis Enrique to pull out his favorite card: Zaïre-Emery, 20. Expected to play on the right flank of the defense, the French international promises that he will do his best to stop Diaz.

“When there are players who have the quality to do everything, like the three Bayern attackers and even those on the bench, it is always complicated to defend. In the first leg, we defended well. We conceded four goals, but when the attackers are of that level, there are no mistakes to make, or very few. We will be ready. Regarding Diaz, I will try to do my best, and I will have the help of my teammates as always,” Zaïre Emery said.

Author of a remarkable season, Warren is more than ever the ideal Swiss army knife for Enrique. Capable of replacing Hakimi in a role not his by training, the native of Montreuil will play his 52nd match this season, for a total of 4,051 minutes.
