Paris Saint-Germain Sporting Director Luis Campos has addressed the rumours making rounds on the club’s summer transfer plans, seeing it as evidence of their stature as a big team.
PSG have been rumoured to be interested in singing a host of players across Europe’s top sides such as Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde, Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli and the defensive duo Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.
Campos however cleared the air that no transfer activity is going on at the Parc des Princes at the moment, with the focus presently on the UEFA Champions League final with Arsenal in Budapest on May 30.
“It’s good for PSG, all the rumors. It means we’re a big club and everyone wants to join us or use our name in the transfer market,” the Portuguese said.
“For us, and this is a decision we made with our coach and the president, our transfer activity has been completely halted for several weeks now.
“We know very well who our targets are in the near future, but we haven’t budged an inch on the transfer front.
“The names circulating are just speculation, because our ambition is to reach May 30th motivated, with everyone fully committed and focused on that.
“To do everything we can to continue our positive momentum. Someone told me that a victory in the final could be historic for everyone. Our intention is to reach the final in good form, and then we’ll see, but for now, we haven’t budged an inch.”
No favorites for Champions league final
Campos went on to state that there were no favourites for the Champions League final against the Gunners, stressing on the need for PSG to be in the best possible shape.
“In a final, there are no favorites. Our team has character and quality, and the coach will prepare the team well for the final,” he added.
“I’m confident, but at the same time, we want to do everything we can to reach the final in the best possible condition.”
