PSG head coach Luis Enrique has to define the future of his team’s goalkeeping. Currently, Matvey Safonov is the undisputed starter, but in the summer, Lucas Chevalier arrived with that status following Gianluigi Donnarumma’s departure.

19-year-old Renato Marin is another who arrived in the summer to replace Arnau Tenas as the third goalkeeper, but it appears that both Enrique and sports advisor Luis Campos have serious plans for the Italian-Brazilian player.

According to L’Équipe, PSG is confident that it has signed the best young goalkeeper in the world and, although they are continuing to develop him, they trust that he will eventually be an important player.

“We are developing him; he is learning the coach’s playing style. And he is progressing,” is said internally at the Parisian club, according to the cited outlet. “He is very well integrated into the group, with a good mentality and a desire to work. He is a top talent,” they add.

“It was a great opportunity,” is said within the Parisian club. “Maybe they will understand it later. We have signed the best player in the world in his position and at his age. And on top of that, he was free.”

The player’s entourage is also convinced that his pupil made the right decision by putting himself under Enrique’s orders, despite not being an immediate starter.

“He chose PSG because currently it is the biggest club in the world,” his entourage told L’Équipe. “Since his first steps in the capital, his ability to play in the buildup phase has been praised by Luis Enrique,” added the French outlet.
