With their minds on celebrating their French league title, Paris Saint-Germain fans could certainly have done without the concern caused by Ousmane Dembélé’s early substitution against Paris FC (2-1) in the final match of the 2025-26 Ligue 1 season, on Sunday.
Starter for the occasion, the 29-year-old Frenchman, visibly weakened, was forced to make way for Gonçalo Ramos shortly before the hour mark. Speaking to the press after the match, Luis Enrique, his manager, chose to play it safe, citing his player’s “fatigue”, which served to reassure the most concerned observers, with less than two weeks to go before the Champions League final against Arsenal.
No serious injury for Ousmane Dembélé
A diagnosis confirmed by further tests carried out on Dembélé on Monday, which revealed no serious injury to the reigning Ballon d’Or holder. “Substituted as a precaution during last night’s match against Paris FC due to discomfort in his right calf, Ousmane Dembélé will remain under medical care over the coming days,” stated the medical update released by the club.
Dembélé now has 12 days to regain his full fitness ahead of what promises to be a pivotal period for the Évreux-born player. Expected to feature against the Gunners, the former FC Barcelona player will then enjoy a few days’ rest before joining the French national team, with whom he will fly to the United States to compete in the World Cup, accompanied by four of his Parisian teammates, all selected by Didier Deschamps to take part in the tournament.
