PSG planning key change vs. Bayern Munich with three options in mind

PSG will have to make adjustments in its midfield for the return leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, May 6.

Luis Enrique’s team narrowly beat Vincent Kompany’s men on Tuesday with a hefty score of 5-4. That said, this victory felt, at least, like a draw.

The bad news for the Parisians is not only having to deal again with one of the few teams that managed to put them in trouble, but also doing so with a significant absence.

On Wednesday, PSG confirmed that Achraf Hakimi will be out for several weeks after getting injured in the first leg against the Germans. According to L’Équipe, the 27-year-old Moroccan will be out for two or three weeks.

The cited outlet also notes that Enrique is evaluating several options for the midfield he will field at the Allianz Arena, given that Warren Zaïre-Emery is very likely to be moved to right back due to Hakimi’s absence.

According to L’Équipe, Fabián Ruiz, Désiré Doué, and Lucas Beraldo are the three options the Spanish coach has in mind to accompany Vitinha and João Neves.

Ruiz, 30, could get minutes against Lorient to improve his fitness. While Doue, 20, is a very likely option for the Parisian staff, Beraldo, 22, raises more doubts given the intensity expected in the match against Bayern.

The Brazilian has looked much better in the defensive midfielder position than at center back or left back. Last week against Angers, Beraldo scored a goal and provided an assist.

matchday.
