Having already won the award last season, Ousmane Dembélé has once again been voted Ligue 1 Player of the Season at the UNFP Awards ceremony.
Compiling 10 goals and six assists in 20 league appearances – nine of them as a starter – since August, the Paris Saint-Germain forward and reigning Ballon d’Or winner was chosen ahead of his two teammates Nuno Mendes and Vitinha, as well as RC Lens’ Florian Thauvin and Olympique de Marseille’s Mason Greenwood.
An award criticised by some, given that Dembélé has had a less successful season than in the 2024–25 campaign, both in terms of output (21 goals and eight assists in 29 matches) and time spent on the pitch (960 minutes compared to 1,736), having been sidelined by injury at times and rested at others. Nevertheless, the Frenchman remains the most decisive player per 90 minutes in Ligue 1 this season (one goal every 96 minutes) and the most dangerous (1 in xG and xA per 90 minutes).
Ousmane Dembélé becomes the fifth player to retain his Ligue 1 Player of the Season award
Also named in the Team of the Season and winner of the award for the Goal of the Season, Dembélé has once again been honoured with multiple accolades.
By winning the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award for the second year running, he has also become the fifth player to achieve this feat in the league’s history. Before him, only Kylian Mbappé (between 2019 and 2024), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (2013–2014), Eden Hazard (2011–2012) and Pauleta (2002–2003) had managed to achieve this.
In doing so, Dembélé also helped PSG extend their domestic dominance, with the capital club having won the trophy every year since 2016.
