Liverpool’s Jeremie Frimpong in doubt ahead of clash with PSG

Jeremie Frimpong (25) could miss the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain – and the FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City this weekend.

Having been brought on at half-time in Tuesday’s friendly between the Netherlands and Ecuador (1-1), the Dutchman was forced to leave the pitch prematurely after just 12 minutes of play. Visibly injured, the former Bayer Leverkusen player immediately made his way back to the dressing room.

“That was a blow; we had to take him off,” Ronald Koeman simply said after the match. Another setback for Frimpong, who has suffered several injuries since the start of the season and has started in only 18 of his 26 appearances in all competitions for the Reds.

Already without Mohamed Salah (33), Alisson Becker (33), Conor Bradley (21), Alexander Isak (26), Federico Chiesa (28), Joe Gomez (28) and Giovanni Leoni (19), Arne Slot will have to rack his brains to put together a team for a final sprint that is already shaping up to be a nail-biter for Liverpool, who are hoping for some players to return in the coming days.

matchday.
