Kompany under no pressure ahead of Bayern’s clash with PSG

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany says he is under no pressure for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg tie at home to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Bavarian giants lost the first leg at the Parc des Princes 5-4, leaving the tie still open to either side to progress to the final in Budapest.

While Kompany acknowledged the strength of PSG, he believes the same about his team, which will be key in getting the needed victory on aggregate.

“Yes, I’ll have no trouble sleeping. I don’t even feel the pressure of the match so far. I’m doing my job and sleeping soundly,” the Belgian tactician said.

“….. They’ve been the strongest team in Europe in recent years, they’ve won the Champions League. In addition to their quality and training, the age of the team also works in their favour. They continue to improve, they’re constantly learning.

“They’re a team we respect and against whom it’s very difficult to play. We think the same of ourselves, though, and that we can beat them tomorrow.”

He added: “We’ve shown we can win a lot of matches, and PSG have shown that too. Ultimately, you need to score one more goal than your opponent to win a match. If you can do that without conceding, that’s the best thing that can happen.”

PSG record over Bayern

The Parisians have defeated the German heavyweights eight times in European competitions, the most against a single opponent after Barcelona (6) and Real Madrid (5).

They have played 37 competitive games against German opponents, Bayern being the most with 17 previous encounters.
