Paris Saint-Germain youngster Ibrahim Mbaye is among 28 players who have been called up to Senegal’s provisional squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
The 18-year-old had his breakout season with PSG last term and made a total of 12 appearances in all competitions, nine in Ligue 1 where he scored once and provided an assist.
He has been involved in more first-team games this season, with 31 competitive outings, though most have been from the bench. He has 24 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists.
Mbaye was born in France but opted to represent Senegal and made his debut last November before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
He played six times during the competition, scoring once and providing two assists as the Teranga Lions reached the final and defeated the hosts in extra time. Their title was stripped by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for staging a walk-off in protest to a late penalty that was handed to Morocco.
Overall, Mbaye has scored three goals and provided five assists for the West African giants. They have been drawn in Group I for the World Cup and will face France, Norway and Iraq.
Other PSG players called up
Mbaye is the 12th player from the PSG squad to be called up for the World Cup. The quintet of Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola, Warren Zaire-Emery and Lucas Hernandez have been called up to France squad while the quartet of Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves, Vitinha and Goncalo Ramos will be part of the Portugal squad.
Marquinhos will be with Brazil, Kang-In Lee with South Korea, and Khalil Ayari with Tunisia.
