European football governing body, UEFA, have selected Daniel Siebert as the referee for the Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal in Budapest on May 30.
PSG made it into back-to-back finals after defeating Bayern Munich 6-5 on aggregate in the semi-finals, while the Gunners edged past Atletico Madrid 3-1 on aggregate.
Siebert was the referee in charge of last season’s Europa League final between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, which the latter won 1-0, and ended a 17-year trophy drought.
The 42-year-old German was in charge of Arsenal’s semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid and the quarter-final first leg against Sporting Lisbon, both games ending 1-0.
Siebert will have Frenchman Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni as his assistants and Spaniard Alejandro Jose Hernandez Hernandez as the fourth official while Jose Enrique Naranjo Perez will be the reserve assistant referee.
Frenchman Jerome Brisard will oversee VAR duties, with assistance from his compatriot Willy Delajod and support from Dutchman Dennis Higler
Referees for other finals
UEFA announced that Frenchman Francois Letexier will officiate the Europa League final between Freiburg and Aston Villa in Istanbul while Italian Maurizio Mariani will take charge of Conference League final between Crystal Palace and Rayo Vallecano in Leipzig.
