Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Bradley Barcola and Lucas Hernández have been included in Didier Deschamps’ squad for France’s World Cup campaign.
Having already featured in 2018 and 2022, Dembélé – the reigning Ballon d’Or winner and newly crowned Ligue 1 Player of the Season – and Hernández will both be making their third appearance at the tournament, as they head to the United States. Their three teammates, all of whom made their debuts for Les Bleus between 2023 and 2025, are preparing to compete in the first World Cup of their careers.
Robin Risser favoured over Lucas Chevalier
Having been injured for several weeks and relegated to a substitute role at PSG since January, Lucas Chevalier has not been called up by Deschamps. Another blow for the 24-year-old goalkeeper, whose recent months have proved far more difficult than hoped. RC Lens goalkeeper Robin Risser, who has had a fine season with Les Sang et Or, has been favoured over him and will take on the role of third-choice goalkeeper.
In Group I, France will open their campaign against Senegal (16th June), before facing Iraq (22nd June) and then Norway (26th June). Friendly matches against Ivory Coast (4 June) and Northern Ireland (8 June) will allow Deschamps and his staff to iron out the final details.
