Fabian Ruiz has been called up to the Spain national team by manager Luis de la Fuente Castillo for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 30-year-old returned to action last month after three months out with a knee injury. He played in nine competitive games with PSG winning a record-extending 14th Ligue 1 title and reaching back-to-back UEFA Champions League finals.
Ruiz has been capped 41 times by Spain, scoring six goals and providing 12 assists. It will be his first-ever World Cup outing and will hope to be an integral part towards La Roja winning a second title.
Spain have been drawn in Group H and will face Caper Verde, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia for a place in the knockout phase.
Ruiz joins cast of stars
The former Napoli man has been called up with a list of midfield stars that include Barcelona duo Pedri and Gavi, Arsenal duo Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi, Manchester City’s Rodri and Atletico Madrid’s Alex Baena.
