Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique believes winning this season’s Ligue 1 title has been the most difficult of the three major trophies.
PSG were chased by RC Lens for much of the season, and were behind them at some point. They however managed to seal the title with a 2-0 win at Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Wednesday.
Enrique, reflecting after the match, gave Lens credit for being fierce competitors.
“It’s important because it wasn’t a fair result for Lens. They deserved better. But once again, we showed the level and the ambition required to finish on top this season,” the Spaniard said.
“We are very happy because this is the most difficult of the three trophies to win. Lens have had a great championship.
“Today, playing in this stadium was a big game, because next season, both of us will be in the Champions League. We need to enjoy the moment.”
Man of the match Safonov
Goalkeeper Matvey Safonov won the man of the match award after making a series of saves to deny Lens from getting any point.
When asked about his performance, the Russian simply said: “Me? I just did my job.”
