It was more than a win but a historic night for PSG stars Warren Zaire-Emery and Desire Doue in the UEFA Champions League defeat of Liverpool.

Zaire-Emery made history as the youngest player to reach 40 appearances in the competition at age 20 years and 31 days old.

He beats Jude Bellingham’s record that was set at age 21 years and 164 days old.

The latest record is an addition to Zaire-Emery’s historic achievements in the Champions League since he made his debut against Maccabi Haifa in October 2022.

In 2023, he became the youngest player to register a brace of assists in a Champions League game at age 17 years and 231 days old against AC Milan.

The French star remains the youngest player to start a Champions League knockout game at age 16 years and 343 days old.

Earlier this year, Zaire-Emery became the youngest PSG player to reach the milestone of 100 Ligue 1 matches at age 19 in January, before his 20th birthday in March.

Doue joins UCL hallowed ranks

Meanwhile, Desire Doue joined Kylian Mbappe in the hallowed ranks of young players to have scored at least 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League.

The French winger opened the scoring against Liverpool on Wednesday with a deflected strike to become the sixth youngest player to reach 10 UCL goals.

Doue joins Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Lamine Yamal, Jude Bellingham and Karim Benzema in hallowed ranks.
