Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele is confident he will play in this weekend’s UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal.
The 28-year-old came off in discomfort in the Ligue 1 finale against Paris FC and had to be substituted in the first half as a precaution.
Dembele has not featured in any training session since then, raising concerns about his fitness for the Champions League final.
Providing an update on his fitness, the former Barcelona player said: “It’s going very well. I had a slight scare against Paris FC, but it’s fine and I’ll be ready for the final.
“Will I be 100% fit for the final? Yes, yes, I think so, yes, I’ll be. I have no doubt about it, I hope to be on the pitch on May 30th.
“I’ve had so many minor scares or major injuries in my career, whether here at PSG or even before, especially with the big matches coming up, especially this final, I preferred to stop and above all not take any risks.”
Reflecting on Saturday’s opponents, Arsenal, Dembele added: “They are a difficult team to play against, they finished first in the Champions League, they just became English Champions, they are solid and work well both defensively and offensively, so I think it’s going to be a good battle.”
Dembele affirms PSG stay
The future of the current Ballon d’Or holder at the Parc des Princes has been making rounds as he has two years left on his existing contract.
He however confirmed he has no desire to leave and will be at the club next season.
“Yes, I still have two years left on my contract, until 2028. Things are going very well at the club, I get along very well with everyone, the staff, the president, the players,” he added.
“We’ll see if they offer me a contract, but I’m happy at the club and I hope it will continue for a long time.
“I’ll be 100% here next season, I still have a contract.”
