So, how many Ligue 1 titles have PSG won? The answer, going into the 2026/27 season, is 14 — more than any other club in the history of French football. Paris arrived late to that party, waited eight years between their first and second championships, and then swallowed the domestic game whole. This is the full list, season by season, and the story of how a club with two titles in 1994 became the outright record holder of the French league.
How many Ligue 1 titles have PSG won? The short answer
Fourteen. Two came in the pre-Qatari era, in 1985/86 and 1993/94. The other twelve have all arrived since the QSI takeover in the summer of 2011, including the 2025/26 championship that Les Parisiens are defending now. Only two seasons since 2012/13 have ended with someone else lifting the Hexagoal: Monaco in 2016/17 and Lille in 2020/21.

The two titles before the money
Paris Saint-Germain were founded in 1970, which by French standards makes them a young club, and their first championship did not arrive until 1985/86 under Gerard Houllier. It was a grinding, hard-earned title rather than a coronation, and it did not start a dynasty: the club spent the rest of the decade in the pack.
The second, in 1993/94, is the one older supporters still talk about. That Artur Jorge side had George Weah leading the line and David Ginola on the flank, and it lost only once all season. It should have been the beginning of something. Instead PSG spent the next 18 years finishing second, third and worse, watching Lyon rattle off seven consecutive titles from 2001/02 to 2007/08 while Paris tried and failed to build anything that lasted.
The QSI era: twelve titles in fourteen seasons
Qatar Sports Investments bought the club in June 2011. The first title of the new era came in 2012/13 under Carlo Ancelotti, and after that the pattern set in fast. Laurent Blanc won three in a row. The 2015/16 season remains the extreme version: 96 points, a 31-point winning margin and a clean sweep of every domestic trophy available.
Monaco broke the run in 2016/17 with a teenage Kylian Mbappe in their attack. Lille did it again in 2020/21. The other interruption came in 2019/20, when the campaign was curtailed by the pandemic and PSG were awarded the title on a points-per-game basis with matches still unplayed — a championship that counts in the record books and still gets argued about in the stands.
The most recent three have been Luis Enrique’s, and they have been different in character. The post-Mbappe Paris side is younger, harder to play through and built around a collective rather than a name, and it has now won three consecutive French championships while also making itself the best team in Europe. If you want the European half of that story, we have the full record of how many Champions Leagues PSG have won.
How PSG compare with the rest of France
Fourteen puts Paris clear at the top of the all-time list. Saint-Etienne, the club that dominated the 1960s and 1970s, are next on ten. Marseille are credited with nine, their 1992/93 championship having been stripped in the aftermath of the match-fixing case. Monaco and Nantes have eight apiece, Lyon seven.
PSG moved past Saint-Etienne with their eleventh title in 2022/23 and have simply kept going since. Given the gap, the interesting question in France is no longer who holds the record but how far out of reach Paris put it — and whether anyone can string together the kind of run Lyon managed two decades ago to start closing it.
The records inside the record
The 2015/16 campaign is the one that shows up most often in the record books: 96 points and that 31-point cushion over second place are French top-flight highs. PSG have also won the league by double-digit margins in a majority of their QSI-era title seasons, which is a large part of why the domestic calendar in Paris is now judged almost entirely on what happens in Europe.
The scoring end of the story sits elsewhere: our list of PSG’s all-time top scorers covers the forwards who did the damage across those seasons.
Can PSG make it 15 in 2026/27?
They are favourites, as always, but the defence of the title has not started cleanly. Paris opened the season with a 2-2 draw away at Rennes and go into the early rounds carrying the same problem every recent Paris side has carried: a squad built for four competitions being asked to treat Ligue 1 as the routine one. The current group is listed in full in our PSG squad guide for 2026/27, with Ferran Torres, Maghnes Akliouche, Mika Godts and Lucas Digne all added this summer.
A 15th championship would extend a record that already looks untouchable. Full standings and fixtures are on the official Ligue 1 site, and the club’s own honours list is at psg.fr.
